RAY LU, 2023 Mosaic Fellow
Ray Lu is a JD/MBA Candidate at Columbia University dedicated to tackling today’s most pressing economic and environmental issues. Through the Mosaic Fellowship, he hopes to better understand how impact investing can address social and economic inequities. During his second year of graduate school, Ray worked at The Social Entrepreneurs’ Fund, a Brooklyn-based impact investing fund. He spent the prior summer with the NYC Law Department’s Economic Development Division through the Summer Honors Program. During his first year of graduate school, he worked as a Social Enterprise Finance Associate at the U.S. Development Finance Corporation. Prior to Columbia, he worked as a Special Situations Associate at Barclays. At Columbia Law School, he is a member of the Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic, research assistant to Professor Lynnise Pantin, public interest co-chair of APALSA, and member of the Journal of Law and Social Problems, where his Note focuses on the evolution of social enterprise business structures. At Columbia Business School, he is an Inclusive Entrepreneurship Fellow, Nonprofit Board Leadership Fellow, Three Cairns Fellow, and co-president of the Social Enterprise Club. At the 2023 MIINT Finals, his team won Best Diligence. Outside the classroom, Ray is a member of the Food Bank for New York City’s Junior Board and volunteers at an affiliated pantry.
Ray received his BA in Economics from Dartmouth College, where he served as editor-in-chief of The Dartmouth newspaper. He was born and raised in Austin, Texas and enjoys exploring bars and restaurants in New York City with friends.
