JOB OPENING: Analyst, Finance & Operations

This is a full-time role based in the NYC metro area (~3 days/week in the office) or Washington, DC metro area (fully remote).

The Impact Capital Managers (ICM) mission is to accelerate the performance of our members and to scale the impact investing marketplace with integrity and authenticity. We do this through our membership association, which today includes 120+ funds representing more than $50B in impact-focused private capital, and through field-building initiatives and partnerships via the affiliated ICM Institute. Our members have invested in companies including Nextracker, Vital Farms and Coursera. The ICM network of peers is engaged and collaborative by nature. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Analyst, Finance & Operations will have a primary focus on finance and compliance and will also support nonprofit operations and administration. ICM is seeking a proactive, meticulous individual who thrives in a start-up, entrepreneurial culture and is inspired by our mission. We have a small team, so this individual will have the opportunity to learn firsthand about every aspect of operations, build a valuable network and shape the role and organization, taking on increasing responsibility over time. The Analyst will report to the Executive Director.  

Responsibilities

Finance:

  • Member dues: Manage the financial elements of member onboarding and renewals including invoicing, receipts, Quickbooks set up, and tracking, working closely with the Analyst, Member Experience and our third-party accounting team

  • Monthly close: Schedule and attend monthly financial review meetings, manage Expensify account and ensure compliance with expense policies, support accounting team to accurately code expenses, upload bank and corporate card statements, and ensure timely and accurate completion of staff timesheets

  • Grants: With ICM senior leadership, develop budgets for grant proposals and track expenses against grant budgets; manage grant classification reports for projects

  • Banking: Set up wires and transfers for approval by Executive Director; manage corporate card

  • Annual reporting: Work closely with the Executive Director and accounting team to support timely and accurate 990s and financial review for ICM Inc. and ICM Institute

  • Program budgets: Track and manage program budgets, e.g. Mosaic Fellowship, annual meetings, and research, in partnership with staff leads 

  • Vendors: Maintain filing and payments related to contractors and fellows, including stipends and reimbursements, 1099s and W9s, etc.

Operations and Administration:

  • Board relations: Schedule quarterly board meetings, set up and run meetings by zoom, and support Executive Director to create and disseminate financials and decks for Board meetings

  • Compliance and HR: Support all hiring and onboarding process; ensure proper insurance and benefits administration; update and maintain PTO policies and materials; schedule annual performance reviews; coordinate professional development opportunities

  • Donor relations & development: Support donor relations and giving campaigns, in coordination with the Senior Manager, Policy & Communications; develop prospective funders database and coordinate outreach

  • Events: Alongside the entire staff team, provide logistical support as needed for ICM’s larger in-person events

  • File and database management: Keep ICM’s files and data on Dropbox, Google Drive, AirTable and other platforms organized; update and add records to ICM stakeholder lists as needed

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree

  • 1+ years of employment experience; ideally in an administrative, operations, or accounting role

  • Experience with financial management and budgets, essential

  • Experience working with Quickbooks, essential

  • Some experience with CRM and data management platforms (for example, AirTable and Monday); familiarity with Zoom, Expensify, Dropbox, Google Drive, Slack strongly preferred

  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information

  • Obsession with details, accuracy, and customer service; pride in systems that run like clockwork

  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines

  • Ability to thrive in a small “start-up” environment, shift priorities, and contribute across workstreams and projects as needed 

  • Strong project management skills

  • Pro-active communicator who makes sure that all colleagues and partners understand processes, deadines, etc. and are updated frequently

  • Self-directed and able to work independently and professionally, from either a home office environment, at the ICM office, or at events

  • A strong work ethic and high expectations for yourself and others on your team; patience and a sense of humor; a positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a fun, supportive work culture

BENEFITS & COMPENSATION

Impact Capital Managers occupies an office near Bryant Park in Manhattan and has two staff who work remotely in Washington DC. For NYC based staff, we operate on a hybrid office model (~3 days/week in office). DC-based staff are expected to commute to NYC monthly for 3-day “home weeks” (typically Tuesday-Thursday) and may have additional in-person co-working days with DC colleagues on an ad-hoc basis. Both DC and NYC based staff are offered flexibility to temporarily work remotely from alternative locations as needed with prior approval. ICM offers comprehensive health benefits, a flexible PTO policy, home tech stipend, 401k with up to 4.5% employer match, and a competitive paid family leave policy. The office is closed each year from December 25 through January 1. Some domestic and international travel may be required (<20%). All applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

The approximate salary range for this role is $60,000 - $70,000 (depending on location and commensurate with experience) with the potential for an additional performance-based bonus.
